Surgery to repair an umbilical hernia, a bulge at the navel, in a child younger than five years, where the bulging tissue is stuck and cannot be pushed back in or its blood supply is being pinched off. The surgeon makes a small incision at the navel, frees and inspects the trapped tissue, and closes the gap in the abdominal wall.
