Clearing a narrowed or blocked artery below the knee by passing a device inside the vessel that shaves, drills or otherwise removes the fatty plaque, with balloon widening of the same vessel included. It restores blood flow toward the ankle and foot in one leg. It is typically done for rest pain, a non-healing ulcer or threatened tissue loss.
