Balloon Opening of a Blocked Artery Below the Knee

A catheter is threaded down to a narrowed or blocked artery below the knee, and a small balloon is inflated inside it to press the blockage open and restore blood flow to the lower leg and foot. It covers the first such vessel treated in one leg. It is used when poor circulation is causing rest pain or wounds that will not heal.
