Clot Removal From A Dialysis Access

North Carolina rates for HCPCS 36870

Removal of a blood clot that has blocked a dialysis access, the surgically created connection or graft used to run a hemodialysis machine. Working through a needle puncture into the access rather than opening it surgically, the doctor breaks up and pulls out the clot, using clot-dissolving medication within the access as part of the same work, so flow is restored and dialysis can go ahead.
