Replacement of a Short-Term Central Line

South Dakota rates for HCPCS 36580

Replaces an existing central venous catheter — a tube whose tip lies in a large vein close to the heart — with a new one, using the same vein entry point. The catheter is the kind that goes straight in through a vein in the neck, chest, or groin and exits at the skin nearby, with no reservoir or pump implanted under the skin. It is done when the existing line is worn, blocked, or no longer working.
