Replaces the widened first section of the aorta, the main artery leaving the heart, with a fabric tube while keeping the person's own aortic valve and resuspending it inside the new tube. The arteries that feed the heart muscle are detached and sewn back onto the graft. The operation is done through the breastbone with a heart-lung machine taking over circulation.
