Creating An Opening Between Upper Heart Chambers

Maine rates for HCPCS 33737

Surgery that creates or enlarges an opening in the wall between the heart's two upper collecting chambers so that oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood can mix. It is done in babies born with certain heart defects, where that mixing is what keeps enough oxygen reaching the body until a fuller repair can be carried out.
