Bypass Machine Support During Valve Replacement

Nebraska rates for HCPCS 33368

Covers the use of a heart-lung bypass machine to take over circulation and oxygen delivery while a replacement aortic valve is put in through a catheter. It is provided in addition to the valve procedure itself, when the heart cannot be relied on to maintain circulation during the implant. A perfusion team runs the machine and the patient is returned to their own circulation afterward.
