Use of an ultrasound probe passed down the breathing tubes during an airway scope examination, so the doctor can see through the airway wall to the lymph nodes and other structures just beyond it. It reveals targets the camera alone cannot see and guides sampling to the right spot. It is performed during a larger airway procedure and is billed in addition to it.
