Surgical Cutting of a Voice Box Nerve

Massachusetts rates for HCPCS 31595

This covers a surgical procedure to cut a nerve on one side of the voice box called the recurrent laryngeal nerve, which controls movement of the vocal cords. It is performed as a treatment for certain conditions that cause abnormal vocal cord muscle spasm or movement, such as a type of voice disorder that makes speaking difficult. This changes how the vocal cords move on that side to relieve the underlying problem.
