Through small incisions with a camera and fine instruments, the surgeon enlarges the space above the rotator cuff by shaving bone from the underside of the overhanging tip of the shoulder blade and clearing inflamed tissue, releasing the ligament that bridges that space when needed. This gives the rotator cuff tendons room to move without catching. It is additional work carried out within another shoulder operation and is billed in addition to that main procedure.
