Application of a Hip Spica Cast (One Leg)

Washington, DC rates for HCPCS 29305

Placement of a rigid cast that extends from the chest or waist down through one leg, used to hold the hip and thigh completely still while a fracture, dislocation, or surgical repair heals. It is most often used in young children after a thighbone fracture, when the hip needs to stay in a fixed position for weeks. The cast is molded by hand while the plaster or fiberglass material sets.
