High-Energy Shock Wave Therapy, Heel

Nebraska rates for HCPCS 28890

A treatment for long-standing heel pain in which high-energy sound-wave pulses are directed at the plantar fascia, the thick band of tissue that runs along the sole of the foot. A clinician delivers the pulses using ultrasound to aim them, and anesthesia beyond a simple local injection is needed because the pulses are strong. Nothing is cut and no tissue is removed.
