A major reconstructive hip surgery performed in children with developmental hip dysplasia, a condition in which the hip socket does not properly cover the ball of the thighbone. The operation combines reshaping of the hip socket with repositioning of the joint so the ball and socket line up correctly, done in one surgical session. It is used for more involved cases that need more than one corrective step to achieve a stable, well-covered hip joint.
