This covers a major surgical procedure to remove a tumor or abnormal growth involving the chest wall, which may include removing a portion of one or more ribs along with the affected tissue, and also includes removal of nearby lymph nodes in the chest. It is performed to treat a tumor that has developed within or invaded the structures of the chest wall. Reconstruction of the chest wall area may be needed as part of the same operation.
