Fibroid Ablation Through The Cervix

Pennsylvania rates for HCPCS 0404T

Fibroids in the wall of the uterus are treated with heat delivered through a slim instrument passed through the vagina and cervix, so no abdominal incision is made. Ultrasound from the tip of the instrument locates each fibroid and guides a needle-like electrode into it, and radiofrequency energy destroys the fibroid tissue, which shrinks over the following months. The uterus is left in place.
