Finds the cause of vaginal symptoms such as unusual discharge, odor or itching. A sample of vaginal fluid is tested by PCR, a method that copies and detects an organism's genetic material, for ten organisms in total: three bacteria linked to bacterial vaginosis, six Candida yeast species, and the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. Four results are reported — a combined bacterial vaginosis finding plus three further detection results covering the yeast species and trichomonas.
