Two X-ray images taken from different angles at the same moment are combined by computer to measure movement in the lower limb with far greater precision than a standard X-ray allows. Small reference markers previously placed in the bone let the system calculate exactly how a bone or an implant has shifted, for example around a hip or knee replacement. It is used to follow how securely an implant is holding.
