Laser Corneal Cuts for a Cornea Transplant

Kansas rates for HCPCS 0290T

A laser is used to make precisely shaped cuts in corneal tissue in preparation for a cornea transplant, either a full-thickness graft or one that replaces only the front layers. Shaping the edges with a laser rather than a blade lets the transplanted tissue and the eye fit together more closely. It is a preparation step within the transplant process.
