Laser Shaping Of Donor Cornea For A Layered Graft

Nationwide rates for HCPCS 0289T

A laser makes precisely shaped cuts in donated corneal tissue, separating and trimming the layer that is to be transplanted for a partial-thickness graft, in which only the diseased layers of the patient's cornea are replaced and the rest of their cornea is left alone. The cutting is done on the donor tissue, not on the eye that will receive it. It is preparation work done as part of a transplant operation and is billed in addition to the main procedure.
