Thin stimulator wires are placed just under the skin over a painful area of the back or neck and connected to a pulse generator or receiver implanted under the skin, so the stimulation can be used long term. Mild electrical pulses delivered along the wires interfere with pain signals from that area. Placing, replacing or removing the generator during the same operation is part of the service.
