Covers the extra anesthesia care when a mother who already has an epidural or spinal in place for labor pain goes on to a cesarean birth in which the uterus is also removed. The anesthesia team converts the existing pain relief into anesthesia strong enough for surgery and stays with her throughout the operation. It is charged in addition to the labor pain relief already provided, and the obstetrician's work is charged separately.
