The anesthesia care given for a needle procedure on the lower back or tailbone portion of the spine that is guided by X-ray or scan pictures, such as injecting, draining or drawing off fluid near the spine or spinal cord. The anesthesia team keeps the patient still and comfortable, monitors breathing and circulation, and manages sedation or general anesthesia throughout. The doctor performing the spine procedure itself charges separately.
