Interspinous Spacer Placement, Lower Back

Kentucky rates for HCPCS 0171T

A small spacer is placed between the bony bumps at the back of two lower-back vertebrae to hold them slightly apart. Keeping that gap open takes pressure off nerves that are being squeezed, which can ease leg pain and heaviness on standing or walking. Small amounts of bone or ligament may be trimmed to fit the device, imaging is used during placement, and this covers one level.
