Anesthesia for Major Chest Wall Reconstruction

North Dakota rates for HCPCS 00474

Anesthesia care for an extensive operation on the chest wall, such as rebuilding a sunken breastbone. The anesthesia team keeps the patient asleep, manages breathing while the chest wall is unstable, and arranges strong pain relief such as an epidural or nerve blocks, because chest wall surgery hurts a great deal afterward. The surgeon's work is charged separately.
