Anesthesia for Nose and Sinus Procedures

Vermont rates for HCPCS 00164

Covers the anesthesia care given during a procedure on the nose and the air-filled sinuses around it. The anesthesia clinician provides the anesthetic, protects the airway — important here because blood and irrigation fluid drain toward the throat — and monitors breathing, heart rhythm and blood pressure until the patient is awake again. The surgeon's work on the nose or sinuses is a separate service and is billed separately.
