Anesthesia care during electroconvulsive therapy, a treatment for severe depression and certain other psychiatric conditions in which a brief seizure is brought on under anesthesia. The anesthesia clinician puts the patient to sleep, gives a muscle relaxant, supports breathing and monitors them until they wake.
